Today is the sesquicentennial of Mexican troops handing out a big old can of whoop-ass to French soldiers in the Battle of Puebla. Phoenix will be rocking tonight, and I, being opposed to human interaction, will celebrate with the ritual sacrifice of several cans of lager. Yes, I am a stickler for tradition.

I would have to call the festivities last night as being on the verge of epic. I guess being a Saturday night just gave more people the opportunity to party, because it was roaring loud here till around 3:30 a.m., with large parties on just about every street. Yes, I am being a bit dramatic, but, living in a house with a metal evaporative cooler and a large porch cover built from a pair of garage doors, I have not heard rain hit with this sort of resonance since the great hailstorm of 2010. This was a really great week and I am bubbling over with silly energy.  A few bullet headlines :

• I picked four Anaheim peppers from a plant I am helping tend. As a person cursed with a brown thumb I feel great to see a plant that I helped with go from some little sprout to a pepper producer.

Here we are, another Friday the 13th ! Of course I waited till today to buy my lottery tickets (and with a couple bills I entered into Where's George to boot).

I decided to enter a couple bills on Where's George today and spend them on lottery tickets. Been so long that I figured I want to enter a couple bills a week at least. Oh, and one of the two bills had the last three digits 666 !
